March 22, 2012 is World Water Day, a day established by the United Nations to bring awareness to water issues around the world. Learn More

March 22, 2012 is World Water Day, a day established by the United Nations to bring awareness to water issues around the world. In local communites, the Keep it Clean Partnership works to bring people together to protect our creeks and waterways.

This year, the theme of World Water Day is “Water and Food Security.” Statistics say that each of us drinks from 2 to 4 liters of water every day; however, most of the water we ‘drink’ is embedded in the food we eat. We encourage people to eat locally and in season when possible. We also celebreate the the beauty and health of our local waterways.

From speaking engagements, to stream teams and creek clean-ups, from storm drain marking to education programs, the Keep it Clean Partnership provides programs and resources to help community members protect and conserve this precious and valuable resource: water.

Learn more about our local water and discover the ways you can help protect and conserve it. Here’s how:

Watch the Boulder Water Story ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmyJ1ciejdk) and earn where your water comes from and how it is cleaned

View the Adventures of H2O Jo ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytq7DP9ENhU) and learn how you can keep our creeks and lakes clean

Do one thing to conserve water every day. For tips and rebate information visit bouldersaveswater.net (http://www.bouldercolorado.gov/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1687&Itemid=1189)

Visit or clean a stream or invite a water expert to visit your community or business meeting. http://www.keepitcleanpartnership.org/

The year 2012 is a milestone for water in our state. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the legislation that created many of the organizations that built the foundation for the management of Colorado’s water resources, including the Colorado Water Conservation Board, Colorado River District, and the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District .

Over the next year, these and many more anniversaries will be linked together by Colorado Water 2012. The goal is to connect Coloradans to their water. From traveling exhibits and K-12 education programs, to book clubs and speaker’s bureaus, many exciting events are happening statewide and in Keep it Clean communinties this year. Check out Colorado Water 2012 to learn more and find out how you can get involved.
