The Lafayette Police Department participates in the national prescription drug take back events each year. This program provides convenient locations across the nation for the public to drop off excess, unused, and expired controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. Items which cannot be accepted at drug take back events are needles, mercury thermometers, oxygen containers, chemotherapy/radioactive substances, pressurized cannisters, and illicit drugs.

Please note the location of the October 2023 event is at the police department, which is different than the typical location in the Walmart parking lot.
